Rotterdam – Carl M. Troiano, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022. Carl was born in Schenectady to his parents, the late Anthony and Louise Spina Troiano. He was a graduate of Schalmont High School and went on to earn his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Clarkson University. Carl’s career as an electrical engineer began at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in 1980 and he retired as a Principal Engineer from Bechtel in 2017. He was a member of the GE Elfun Society. Carl enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his vegetable garden as well as his yearly family trips to Florida and Disney. He was a devoted family man. Always the advocate for his loved ones, Carl would do anything to help those he loved. He was a caring, thoughtful person and constantly put others before himself. Carl leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Sandra Rossi Troiano; sons, Joseph Troiano and David Troiano; brothers, Kenneth (Denise) Troiano, of Johns Creek, GA, and Edward (Lynn) Troiano, of Ballston Lake, NY, as well as his niece and nephew, Michelle Troiano and Brian Troiano. Besides his parents, Anthony and Louise, Carl was predeceased by one brother, James Troiano, in-law, Beatrice and Michael Rossi and brother-in-law, Frank Rossi. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 9am-10:45am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Masks are required while in attendance. A funeral mass will follow at 11:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. Carl will be laid to rest at St. Cyril’s Cemetery.
