Camille Rubino

July 24, 1939 — December 13, 2022

Guilderland-Camille (Fiori) Rubino, 83, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully on December 13th, 2022, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 24, 1939 to Amedeo and Carmella (Gargano)Fiori. She spent most of her youth in Farmingdale, NY where she graduated from Farmingdale High School and continued her education at Farmingdale University. She met Jim, her husband of 60 years, through her sister-in-law Joann, whom she considered a sister. She built a life with her husband and children, living many years in Westerlo, NY and then moving to Guilderland, NY where she spent her remaining years. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her sixgrandchildren and great granddaughter. Her Sunday dinners were beyond compare and everybody in the family looked forward to sitting around the table together, laughing and sharing stories. She was an excellent gift giver, never missed a special date, she was a compassionate listener and the family’s biggest cheerleader. A favorite memory that she liked to share was going to Ebbets Field to watch the Brooklyn Dodgers with her brother Greg, who she often said was the best brother in the world.More often than not, you could find her with her eyes on a book or kindle, reminding us all how much she loved to read. She loved shopping and some might even consider her a semi-professional tag-saler. She loved going to Cooperstown in the summer and heading south in the cold weather with Jim, where they would enjoy time with their lifelong friends, including her best friend since 13 years old, Mela Rath. She was predeceased by her husband, James Joseph Rubino. She is survived by her children; Cynthia Van Auken, Jamie (Joseph) Sacalaand James Rubino Jr. (Momoko); her grandchildren; Amanda (Dillon) Wachter, Sarah Sacala, John Sacala, Emily Sacala, Kimi Rubino, and Mia Rubino; her great granddaughter, Annarose Wachter; her brother, Gregory Fiori, as well as many loving relatives and close friends. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 10:30am-12noon, with a service immediately (12 noon) following at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpke, Guilderland, NY 12084.
