Brian J. Cummings, 79, of Rotterdam passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 17, 1945 to the late James Cummings and Joan McCarthy Cummings of Saratoga Springs. Brian attended St. Clements Schools in Saratoga Springs before enlisting in the United States Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, Brian briefly worked for GE as a tester, and then in construction, before he was employed as a Lineman for Verizon Communications for 38 years. He was united in marriage to Donna M. DiNola on September 7, 1968. They had a romantic movie meeting, when Donna tripped over him in an entertainment venue after which they did not leave each other’s' side. Donna was the love of his life. They were married 55 years and had two children together; daughter Deana Constantino (Michael), son Ron Cummings (Paola), and three grandchildren, Rachel Constantino, Adrian Cummings, and Luca Cummings. In his spare time Brian enjoyed working with his hands, he was a gifted carpenter affectionately known as “Mr. Fix-it”. He also enjoyed golfing, camping, frequenting casinos, and traveling adventures with his wife, Donna. Brian loved and adored his family, he was such a proud father and grandfather, attending and participating in all of his grandchildren's events. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church and was strong in his faith. He is survived by his loving wife Donna Cummings, his children Deana Constantino (Michael), Ronald Cummings (Paola), grandchildren Rachel Constantino, Adrian Cummings, and Luca Cummings, siblings Michael Cummings, Kathleen Sullivan, Eileen Wigley (Timothy), Robert Cummings (Laurie), Maureen Gratto (Marc), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents James and Joan Cummings, his brothers, James and Patrick Cummings. Brian’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Avenue Rotterdam, NY 12306. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 10:00 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home. Brian will be laid to rest with full military honors at St Cyril’s Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers donations in Brian’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
