Beverly J. Vanwormer

SCHENECTADY - Beverly "Toots" J. VanWormer (Marx) passed away on January 1, 2024 at the age of 87. She was born in Schenectady on March 18, 1936 to Pearl and Louis Marx and grew her life in her cherished Rotterdam home. She worked at The Callahan Agency and met her best friend Rose there. A prolific artist and crafter, she devoted every day to ceramics, Xstitch and crocheting. If you knew Bev, you know she loved to talk to anyone about anything, brightening your day with her endless wit and bawdy humor. Her love of crafting and chatting led her to become a dedicated Rotterdam Senior Center community member, where she taught ceramics over 20 years and cared for countless students of all ages and abilities. She was a die-hard Willie Nelson and Richard Petty fan, an avid reader of Stephen King, and loved her dogs and squirrels. She is survived by her daughter Carla Pneuman and her son Douglas Pneuman, 5 grandchildren (Jason, Danny, Jack, Kerstin, Matthew), and 2 great-grandchildren (Raevyn and Kalysta). She was predeceased by her husband  David VanWormer. Calling hours will be held Monday January 8th from 4pm - 6pm at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Town of Rotterdam with the memo "Rotterdam Senior Center."
