Betty J (Smith) Williams

Schenectady, NY-Mrs. Betty J. "Gege" Williams, age 89 of Schenectady, passed away on Friday evening, Jan. 15, 2016 in her home with her loving daughter, Sherry, caregiver, Laura and niece, Debbie at her side. She was born on Feb. 19, 1926, daughter of the late Chauncey W. and Erna B. (Batten) Smith and educated in Mayfield area schools.She was united in marriage with Leon A. "Arnie" Williams on Sept. 12, 1953; a loving and devoted union of 53 years until his passing in 2006.Mrs. Williams spent many dedicated years taking care of her home and family which she took tremendous pride in.She was extremely active with the VFW Post #1895 and the American Legion Auxiliary for 54 years, joining in 1961. Betty personally enjoyed watching soap operas with her little companion, Sophie Mae by her side, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family. Survivors include her children, Sherry Green (Jimmy) with who Betty resided with,Terry Williams of Schenectady, Timothy Warner (Kathie) of Scotia, Gregory Warner (Avis) of Wells, NY; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren nieces, nephews and cousins.She was predeceased by her parents and by her sister, Aileen.
