Betty J (Boyle) Lund

Rotterdam - Betty (Boyle) Lund, 81, passed away November 7, 2016. Born in Schenectady, she and Robert Lund were married for 58 years, until his passing earlier this year. After the death of her dear friend, Dorothy Pareis, she became like a mother to Dorothy's then young children: Alan Pareis of Rotterdam; Patty (Mark) Mazzacua of Summerville SC and then became a grandmother to Patty's children Dylan and Jarrett Hess. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Eleanor (Bernard) Schunicht of Loudonville, NY, and Sylvia (Henry) Bunk of Schaghticoke, NY. She leaves many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins. Her beloved dog Fritzy deeply feels her loss. She was predeceased by her precious daughter Sharon, her parents, James and Cora Boyle, and her brothers, George and Robert Boyle. She was grateful for the extraordinary efforts and commitment demonstrated by her beloved cousin, Debbie Escobar, (supported by Jorge Escobar and her niece Bonnie Choy) which allowed her to remain in her home in spite of her many health issues. The family also wants to give special thanks to Char, for her exceptional help with Betty's care. She worked in various positions throughout her life, her most recent at Kingsway Arms. Her community involvement included the Schonowe FD Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW, and Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed hosting exchange students, Per Osterberg of Sweden and Yan Willem Wolke of the Netherlands. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7 pm, followed by a service at 7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.The Rebekah Lodge will meet at 5:30 pm.Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Schonowe Fire Department, 112 Gordon Road, Schenectady 12306, to the New Jersey Schnauzer Rescue Network, Inc., PO Box 36, Fanwood, NJ 07023, or to the charity of one's choice.
