Schenectady - Bettina M. Caldara, 72, of Schenectady, passed quietly on December 10, 2020 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Niskayuna, Bettina was the oldest daughter of the late Samuel and Marianna Manuli Caldara. She graduated from St. Columba High School in Schenectady. Bettina worked for many years as a waitress and cook at the Colonial Restaurant, which her family owned and operated. From 1986 to 1991, she worked at Colonial Grocery, also owned by her family. Bettina was an avid movie and television buff and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery. She was also a big music fan and particularly loved listening to oldies from the 50s and 60s and country music. She was an amazing baker and especially enjoyed making Christmas cookies and gifting trays to her family and friends. She was a devoted aunt to her only niece whom she loved with all her heart. In addition to her parents, Bettina was also predeceased by her aunt; Josephine S. Ferraro and brother in law; Clifford J. Mango. She is survived by her beloved sister; Nancy C. Mango , her loving niece; Maranda (Paul Buchbinder) Mango, as well as cousins and cherished friends. There will be no calling hours. Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held via ZOOM on Tuesday, December 22, at 1:30 pm.
