Rotterdam- Bernardino '˜Bernie " Viscusi, 75, of Rotterdam entered into eternal rest peacefully at the Hospice Inn at St Peter's Albany surrounded by his beloved family after a brief illness. He was born in Squille, Caserta Italy on May 11, 1939 a son of the late Zelindo and Clelia Maria (Olino) Viscusi. He came to the United States in April of 1957 and began his barbering career the next day, soon after opening Bernie's Barbershop on Lower Broadway. Bernie had a special place in his heart for each and every one of his customers. In addition to his passion for barbering he worked as a machinist at the General Electric Company for 25 years then retiring in 1992. Bernie looked forward to lighting his pizza oven for Sunday dinners with his family and his weekly-televised soccer games of his beloved team Napoli. He enjoyed his free time gardening in the summer and winters in Naples, Florida. Atlantic City held some of his most cherished memories with his family and friends. He was member of the Sons of Italy and the Colombo Soccer Club. Bernie was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Rotterdam. He is survived by his beloved wife Maria (Mastroianni) their four children, daughter Marisa (Gary Daigle) Kosakowski Rotterdam, son Robert (Jill) Viscusi Rotterdam, daughter Christina (Michael) Artese Rotterdam Jct. and daughter Lisa (Maurizio) Cassano of Princetown. Bernie leaves behind 10 beloved grandchildren Michael John, Nicolas and Adriana Kosakowski of Rotterdam, Marina and Anthony Viscusi of Rotterdam, Michael and Matthew Artese of Rotterdam Jct and Sofia, Simone' and Selena Cassano of Princetown. His siblings Arcangela (Frank) Campagnano Rotterdam, Frank (Maria) Viscusi of Princetown, Renato (Gina) Viscusi of Rotterdam and Beatrice (Antonio) Sgueglia of California, two sister in laws Philomena Viscusi and Angela Viscusi both of Rotterdam, brother in law Angelo (Emilia) Mastroianni of Rotterdam and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his brothers Carlo and Antonio Viscusi and his son in law Michael Kosakowski. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam on Wednesday Evening August 20 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will begin on Thursday Morning August 21 2014 at 9:15 am at the funeral home. Immediately following a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Princetown Road Rotterdam. Entombment will follow at St. Cyril's Cemetery at the Holy Cross Patio Duanesburg Road Schenectady, NY.
