Berenice D. Lombardi

d. August 5, 2024

Berenice D. Lombardi, 96, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024. Born September 30, 1927, in Schenectady, NY, Berenice was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Ostrowski) Dereski. Berenice graduated from Draper High School in 1945, and began a secretarial career with General Electric in what was then the Knolls Atomic division. She married her high school sweetheart, Anthony Lombardi, in 1949. They began a family in 1952, and had five children. Berenice loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing her children’s outfits, and cooking delicious homemade meals.

After her children had grown, Berenice returned to work, as the secretary for her son’s business, William’s & Lombardi, CPA’s, in Albany. She loved being involved with her son’s growing business. She spent over 11 years working before retiring in 1989. Berenice’s favorite place was her beloved camp on Galway Lake. Her greatest joy was gathering family and friends at the lake, and feeding everyone all day long. But she also loved quiet mornings on the porch, sipping coffee and watching the sun reflect off the lake. As time progressed, Berenice was overjoyed with the arrival of each and every grandchild. They were her pride and joy, and she made it her mission to make every holiday special, full of family and traditions.

She is survived by her son, Daniel (Suzanne) Lombardi of St. Petersburg, FL, daughter Jean Carter,of St Petersburg, FL, daughter Diane (Dennis) Miller of Bristol, Ct, daughter Ellen Lombardi of Guilderland, NY., and eight grandchildren, Michael Lombardi of Los Angeles, CA, Matthew Lombardi of Barcelona, Spain, Daniel Carter of Ballston Spa, NY, Jeffrey (Caroline) Carter of Dover, NH, Emily Carter of Malta, NY, Anthony Pitkin of Sacramento, CA, Adam (Kayla) Pitkin of Denver, CO, and Samantha Pitkin of Austin, TX, and one great grandchild, Caleb Carter of Dover, NH., and her dearest friend and niece, Marcia (Ron) Olszewski. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Lombardi, her daughter, Linda Lombardi Doyle, son-in-law Michael Doyle, and son-in-law John Carter.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 10th, from noon to 4 pm at Armondo’s Villa Tuscan Grill, 273 Duanesburg Rd., Rotterdam, NY. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House.
