Barbara "Barbe" Wagar, 63, of Rotterdam, died at home on Tuesday, June 4th, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Barbe was loved for her many kindnesses, positive outlook, sense of humor, and amazing devotion to her family and friends. Born in Schenectady, she graduated from Mohonasen High School in 1967 and the Memorial School of Nursing in 1970. During 35 years as an RN at St. Clare's and Ellis Health Center she made many cherished friends. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Barbe was married for over 40 years to her high school sweetheart, Scott A. Wagar, of Rotterdam, who survives her. She is also survived by her beloved son Scott E. Wagar and daughter-in-law Julianne Weinzimmer; mother Lottie Augustyniak; brother Edward Augustyniak and sister-in-law Donna; nephew Darren Johnson, niece-in-law Lindsey Franklin Johnson, and great-nieces Harper Kate and Colbie Johnson; nephew Seth Johnson, niece-in-law Carla Johnson, and niece-in-law Sadie Constance; nephew Mike Augustyniak; cousin and goddaughter Dawn Phillips; mother-in-law Ethel Wagar; aunt- and uncle-in-law Marcia and Ross Moody; brother- and sister-in-law Donald and Holly Wagar; niece- and nephew-in-law Dawn and Brian Gardner and children; niece-and nephew-in-law Nancy and Doug Pirigyi and children; sister- and brother-in-law Cheryl and Robert Smith and niece- and nephew-in-law Tracy and Arik Holloway and daughter; and many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by beloved relatives including father Edward Augustyniak; sister Connie Johnson; brother Dennis Augustyniak; aunt and uncle-in-law Florence and Jess Williams; father-in-law Donald Wagar; and dog Toby. She is also survived by beloved pets including Tabitha and Mr. Johnson. Her family would like to extend special thanks to the extraordinary people at Community Hospice as well as Dr. John and Barbara Malfetano, and Dr. Edward Liebers. Calling hours are Sunday, June 9th, from 2-4 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A memorial service immediately follows at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation of Scotia or Community Hospice.
