Barbara Ann (Murrane) Heck

Rotterdam - Barbara Ann (Murrane) Heck, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at her home after a long illness. Barbara was born in Schenectady, the daughter of Mary and Peter Murrane. She was a graduate of Whitesboro High School in Marcy, New York and retired in 2006 from her position at the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services in Albany after 37 years. Predeceased by her parents, Barbara is survived by her husband, Steven Heck, her children Kimberly (Vincent) Commisso, and Aaron Dunham (Leila Kokobee), and her grandchildren Henry, Lydia, and Everett. She is also survived by her brother, Peter (Diane) Murrane, nephews Shawn and David and many cousins. She enjoyed spending time with her greatly loved grandchildren, tending her backyard garden and enjoying the company of her long-time companions, her Australian shepherds Bindi and Sheila. Her passions included trips to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, concerts at Bethel Woods and the music of the Beatles and Journey. Barbara was a very loving and positive person, and she will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue followed by a Christian service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to Community Hospice. Burial will be at Saint Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Amsterdam.
