Schenectady - Barbara Eggleston, age 76,died peacefully on Sunday, January 16th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family which is how she lived her life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim who has been by her side for 54 years. She is also survived by her children Michael (Amy), Jeff (Maria) and Jamie (Laura); her sister Elaine Peretti (Walt) and family; brothers in-law[1], George (Gay) Eggleston and family; Jack (Linda) Eggleston and family; dear cousins and friends including her best friend Lillian (Bob) Tietz. She is predeceased by her parents Mary and Dominick and other family members and friends who are welcoming her to heaven with love. Barbara was born on October 30, 1945 in Niskayuna, New York. Following graduation from Linton High, she received her certificate in nursing from St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady. Her stellar nursing career included working for Dr. Green, OD; Dr. Mika, MD; and Dr. Purcell et. al at Digestive Disease Associates of Schenectady. She was active within her community. She served as President of Junior Chamber (JC), a civic organization that focused on improving her community. She also supported her sons in Boy Scouts as a leader as well as in church and school. Barbara will also be remembered for her “green” thumb. She loved gardening at home in Schenectady and at her home in Ellenton, Florida during the winter months. The most important aspect of Barbara’s life was her family. She was the matriarch. Barbara’s home was the gathering place for many amazing home cooked meals and family celebrations. Her warmth and genuine love were felt by all. She and Jim raised their sons to become wonderful men. She was so proud of her family. She beamed with joy whenever she talked about her sons, daughter in laws and grandchildren. Barbara will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune of being loved by her. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-7pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be celebrated 10 am Friday at St. Gabriel’s Church 3040 Hamburg St., Rotterdam. Burial will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.
