Rotterdam – Barbara Catino, 89, passed away Friday April 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of John and Hazel (Black) Schottenham.
Barbara’s life as a “domestic engineer” was perfectly demonstrated by loving and raising her family, supporting her husband and being that special “Nini” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be forever missed by her family and many friends.
Her husband, Edward A. Catino, passed away in 2012.
She is survived by her two children Patricia (David) Bouck and Edward (Michele) Catino.
Her grandchildren Karah (Ryan) Sherwood, Ryan (Caresse) Bouck, Jordan (Rachel) Catino, Justin (Chelsea) Catino, Demi (Durett Miles) Bouck, Joshua Catino and Alisha (Larry Sanchez) Catino.
Her great grandchildren Cameron and David Bouck, Davian Miles, Matthew and Emme Sherwood.
She also leaves behind her sister Patricia Cady and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Barbara was predeceased by her son Michael Catino and her two brothers Jack and James Schottenham.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to Cassie Viscusi, Barbara Gac, Anna West, The Eddy Pace program, Our Lady of Mercy Rehab staff, Ellis ER staff, Erie Crossing at the Glendale Home and the A5 staff at Ellis Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be celebrated 11 am Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Church 806 Union St., Schenectady.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna,
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Barbara’s memory to City Mission of Schenectady.
