Aurelio Levito, 82, of Rotterdam, NY passed away on February 8, 2025 at home after a long illness with his loving children at his side. Aurelio was born on December 11, 1942 in Rapino, Chieti, Italy to the late Camillo Levito and Eufemia (Martino) Levito. He immigrated to the United States on November 21, 1962. His goal was to achieve the American dream. He met Mary Cappiello who employed him at Cappiello Dairy Products and Italian Imports. There, he managed the store and became a staple of the Italian American community of Schenectady for 50 years. He subsequently met the love of his life, Teresa Bennice, whom he married on June 26, 1966. Sadly, Aurelio was predeceased by his loving wife, Teresa Levito, in November of 2002. Aurelio is survived by his five children, Mia Pennacchia (Paul), Annamaria Levito, Camillo Levito (Crystal), Silvia Levito-Benson (Scott), and Christina Guido (Keith); Grandchildren, Camille Scannell (Patrick), Anthony Pennacchia, Nick Pennacchia, Taylor Laubacher, Zachary Laubacher, Marissa Uricchio (Matt), Justin Levito (Gianna), Alyson Levito, Teresa Benson, Camryn Benson, Aurelio Guido and Gianna Guido; Great Granchildren, Evelyn, Declan, Mia and Addison Scannell, Luca and Ava Uricchio; Sibling, Rita Dell’oso (Giovanni); Nephew, Rocco Dell’oso (Maria); Great niece, Matilde Dell’oso, all of Rapino, Chieti, Italy, as well as several sisters in law, brothers in law and numerous nieces and nephews in the local area. Aurelio leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to his family and profound Catholic faith.
Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam on Wednesday, February 19 from 5-7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Church, 1241 State St., Schenectady on Thursday, February 20 at 9:00am. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Aurelio’s name to St. Luke’s Church.
