Niskayuna- Arthur F."Art"Newberry, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2013, after a brief illness. Artwas born in Schenectady, the son of the late Berniece and James "Fred"Newberry. He was a graduate of Draper High School and Bryant College where he received a BS in Accounting in 1955. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. A resident of Niskayuna at his death, Art was a longtime resident and businessman in Rotterdam where he was President of Newberry Knitting Company since 1969. He had been a member of the Mohonasen School Board from 1977 to 1982; a member of St. Gabriel's Parish Council as well as a Carman Little League manager and coach. He is survived by Nancy, his wife of 51 years; two children, Ed and daughter-in-law Molly Newberry of McLean, VA and their children, Tommy, Erin and Jack; daughter Betsy and son-in-law Ken Friedrich of New York, NY and their children, Sam and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Newberry and sister-in-law Toni Newberry of Morriston, Florida; brothers-in-law, Chuck Noone of Glens Falls, NY and Tom Noone of Carolina Shores, NC. Art is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Wednesday June 12, from 4 to 7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be held Thursday 10:30 am at the Church of St. Adalbert, Crane St. Schenectady. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Contributions in Art's memory may be made to- Friends of Fontaine -PO Box 11376 Albany NY 12211 in support of St. Gabriel's School in Fontaine, Haiti.
