On Sunday, March 13, 2016, Heaven got a hell of a guy. Arthur W. "Butch" Muth, 68, of Quaker St. died at the Stratton VA Medical center in Albany.Art was born in Schenectady to John and Dorothy (DeForge) Muth on May 14, 1947. Following his graduation in 1966 from Duanesburg High School, where he was a talented baseball player and an extremely gifted troublemaker, Art joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for 20 years, from 1966 to 1986. He was an Aviation Electrician, and eventually became an Instructor. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he became the owner of Ramona Bait and Tackle in Ramona CA. Art was a lifelong outdoorsman who hunted, fished, trapped and could never get enough of the beauty that nature had to offer. Art never missed a chance to teach someone with his vast knowledge of the outdoors or to express one of his many, and strong opinions on life and politics. He had a very difficult time understanding why "Prince Andy" thought he had the right to take away the very freedoms that he, many before, and many after him fought for. Arts opinions on our current presidential candidates are unprintable, though his family and friends are well aware, and they will be haunted for the rest of their lives if they dare say a kind word about Hillary. He was, you might call, a love or hate kind of fellow. If he let you in his life you had a true friend who would defend you and always be there for you. Art is survived by a wonderful blood and extended family including his wife, Sarah Briggs, his brother Donald "Skip" Muth of Schenectady, his sisters;Jacklyn "Jackie" Muth of Schenectady, and Janetand Guy Rucki of Latham, who graciously welcomed he and Sarah into their home when Art went on Hospice Care, and his brother John "Slugger"Muthof North Carolina, his nephew Shane and his wife Ahana of Wake Forest, NC,his niece Amiee and her husband El-Shaffei of Old Greenwich, CT,he and Sarah's furry grump; Olav and his mother in law; Janis Briggs of Delanson. Art was predeceased by his Parents, John and Dorothy Muth as well as sister, Patricia. Art also leaves behind his best buddy George Willis and his wife Gail of Deland, Fla. These two guys enjoyed hunting and giving their wives grey hair. Art's family would like to acknowledge the wonderful Doctors, nurses and respitory therapists at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center who tried their damnedest to make Art's numerous stays and final days at the hospital the absolute best and most comfortable they possibly could. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 28th, from 5-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. A Memorial service, with military honors will follow.
