Rotterdam - Arlene M. Heller, 84, passed away at her home on Friday, August 26, 2022. Arlene was born in Amsterdam on May 14, 1938 to Helen (Osinski) and Arthur Vanderpoel. She was a resident of Rotterdam for 30 years. Arlene graduated from Wilber H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She attended Maria College in Albany where she pursued a nursing career. She ultimately worked at the VA Hospital in Albany. After retirement she worked part-time at St. Clares Hospital in Schenectady and several other medical related agencies. Arlene lived in Falmouth, MA on Cape Cod for several years where she worked in real estate and Human Services. She loved to travel, play golf and spend Winters in Pawley's Island, SC with her beloved husband John whom she married August 25, 2007 and especially loved sharing all aspects of life with him. Arlene was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Schenectady, NY. Arlene was pre-deceased by her husband John T. Heller Sr., her parents Helen and Arthur, brother William and sister-in-law Kathleen Vanderpoel. She is survived by a niece, Nancy Marchinuke (Mike), nephew Mark (Nalene) Vanderpoel and several grand nieces and nephews, and a wonderful friend and supporter, step-son John Heller, Jr. (Marie). Also some very special friends, Mary Bushnell, Janice and Ed Zadrozny, Ed and June Grinter, Martina Hulett. There will be no calling hours or service. Arlenewill be entombed at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
