Arlene (Sherman) Derkowski

Schenectady - Arlene Derkowski, 92, of Schenectady, NY passed peacefully into heaven January 13, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph B. Derkowski and was born June 4, 1924, in Rhinebeck, NY to Clay and Evelyn Sherman. She was predeceased by her sister, Ginger Ottley and grandson, Darrell Enright. Survivors include a brother, Ken Sherman of Dover Plains, daughters, Sue Ann (Bob) Enright of Niceville, FL and Betty (Pete) DiSimone, sons, Clay (Sue) Derkowski of Herndon, VA and Peter (Linda) Derkowski. Grandchildren include Eileen (Tim) Parnell, Melissa (Greg) Johnson, Robert (Shannon) Enright, Kevin (Lauren) Derkowski, Kyle (Laura) Derkowski, Pati (Matt) Dunn, Heather (Greg) Rockstroh, as well as 11 great and great-great grandchildren. She was a past member of the Carmen Little League Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed playing Bingo, vacationing in Virginia Beach, VA and was an avid animal lover. Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 17 from 9 to 11am with service to follow at DeMarco–Stone Funeral Home at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Schenectady. Interment will be directly following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Kings Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave, Scotia, NY 12302.
