Ardis M Laporte

June 29, 1925 — March 6, 2021

Guilderland -Ardis M. LaPorte, longtime resident of Guilderland, passed peacefully at her home following a brief illness on Saturday, March 6, 2021, she was 95. Born in Norwood, NY, Ardis was the daughter of the late Bertha Goodrich. She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. She entered Potsdam State Teachers College to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. On January 5, 1946 she married the love of her life, Norman E. LaPorte and enjoyed 70 years of marriage. She was a homemaker having five children, a Girl Scout Leader and taught religious instruction at St. Madeleine Sophie. From 1986 to 2015, she spent winter months in Mulberry, Florida where she had many friends. In addition to her parents, Ardis was also predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Norman E. LaPorte, who died on March 5, 2016, her daughter Sharon L. LaPorte who died in 1955 and her sister Shirley Phillippi. She is survived by four children; Norman L. (Maryanne) LaPorte of Maryland, Bonnie M. Hofmann of Rotterdam, David B. LaPorte of Kentucky and Holly A. LaPorte of Guilderland, five grandchildren; Lorne (Tracey), Steven and Michael LaPorte and Charles (Jennifer) and Gregory (Danielle) Hofmann, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 2:30 pm at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna with friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ardis’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org. We will miss you. Love, your Family
