Arcangelo Cestra

April 26, 1905 — July 11, 1905

ROTTERDAM- Arcangelo Cestra, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2019. He was born in Veroli, Italy to Sante Cestra and Lidia Mignardi Cestra. He was married to Marcia Lecce Cestra. They were happily married for 56 years. He attended school in Italy before coming over to America in 1962. Shortly after, he began his work as a Mason working contracts throughout the Capital Region and eventually joined the Albany Bricklayers Union. Anyone who was blessed to know Arcangelo knew that he truly lived for his family. He loved the time he spent with them and always made time to get everyone together as often as possible. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, but his true talent was winemaking. He could be found in the basement for hours creating the perfect wine for his family and friends. He will be forever missed by his loving wife, Marcia Lecce Cestra, his sons; John (Arelys) Cestra, and Ralph Cestra, his grandchildren; Ashley, Gabriella, and Justin Cestra, his brother, Guido (Marisa) Cestra, his sister Rosina (Ferdinando) Rotundo, and many other loving relatives and friends. He now joins in eternal life his parents; Sante Cestra and Lidia Mignardi Cestra. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 8:30-10:30am on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY 12306. A mass of Christian burial will take place at 11am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant Street, Schenectady, NY 12303. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Schenectady. The family requests any donations be made to the Schenectady ARC, 2999 Hamburg St. Schenectady, NY 12303.
