Antonio Paniccia, 81, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, July 3, 2017. Born in Vicalvi, Frosinone, Italy, Antonio was the son of the late Giuseppe and Palmira DiCocco Paniccia. Antonio and his wife came to the United States in 1956. He worked as a mason for several local contractors before taking a job as a maintenance worker at the SUNY Albany campus. He retired in 2002 with 30 years of service. A loving and devoted family man, Antonio was loved and respected by both his family, as well as his co-workers. He enjoyed gardening and was always planting and tending to his fruit trees and vines. In addition to his parents, Antonio was also predeceased by his late brother and sister in law; Armando and Laura Paniccia and brothers in law; Antonio Gizzi, Giuseppe Santucci and Robert Meccariello. Antonio is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Pierina Gizzi Paniccia, three cherished daughters; Giuseppina (Antonio) Muscedere of Vicalvi, Italy, Rita Paniccia of Rotterdam and Tina Paniccia of Rotterdam, his beloved grandson; Felice Muscedere of Vicalvi, Italy, his sister; Maria Santucci of Rotterdam, sister in law; Gaetana Meccariello of Rotterdam, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday morning, 8:15 am followed at 9 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will be in the Cemetery of Vicalvi, Frosinone, Italy.
