Antoinette “D.G.” DiGenova, 88, of Schenectady, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 following a long illness. Born in Schenectady on August 31, 1929, Antoinette was the daughter of the late Antoinette and Liberato DiGenova. A graduate of Nott Terrace High School, she continued her education at the Child’s Hospital School of Practical Nursing, affiliated with Glens Falls Hospital. Upon completion of nursing school, she was employed by Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center for 42 years until her retirement in 1993. She was a compassionate nurse who fostered lifelong friendships with colleagues. During her free time Antoinette could be found in her workshop woodworking, outside tending to her tomatoes, traveling to foreign countries with her friends, or relaxing at Sacandaga Lake. A thoughtful conversationalist, she adored having family and friends for lunchtime discussions around her kitchen table. In addition to her parents, Antoinette was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis and Christine DiGenova and Vincent and Germaine DiGenova, and her nephew, Vincent L. DiGenova. She is survived by her niece, Cheryl Amiccuci and her husband Anthony; great-nephews Nicholas (Sara) Amiccuci and Christopher (Emily) Amiccuci; great-great nephews Carter, Brody, Aiden, Vincent and Luca Amiccuci; her friend of many years, Ann Frederick; and her friend and neighbor, Marion Rizzo. A special thanks to Dr. Arthur Stevens for his many years of service. A calling hour will be held Tuesday, July 10th from 10 to 11 am, followed immediately by funeral services at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home - 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady, NY. Antoinette will be laid to rest at St. John’s Cemetery after the funeral services.
