Antoinette (Detullio) Aldi

Rotterdam – Antoinette Aldi, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, March 28th, 2018 at the Schenectady Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation with her family at her side. Antoinette was born in Puglianello, province of Benevento, Italy on May 28th, 1921, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Marinatte Cacchillo DeTullio. She immigrated to the United States on the Augustus in 1932, with her sister, Mary, to be reunited with her mother Marinatte and stepfather, Frank Della Selva and the rest of her family in Schenectady. An experience that led to Antoinette’s lifelong strength and independence. Antoinette’s first job led her to Albany working for Millstein Co., first as a bookkeeper and later working in the personnel department. During this time Antoinette found the time to go back to school and earn her high school diploma. She then worked at a glove factory on Congress Street and eventually she moved on to Newberry Knitting Co. on Curry Road where she was employed as a closer in the knitting room. Antoinette and Armand were lifelong Schenectady residents until 1973 when they moved to Rotterdam. Devout Catholics, they were communicants of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the former Our Lady of Assumption Church and current Our Lady Queen of Peace. Antoinette’s love for her family was second to none. You could always find her cooking and baking, hosting Holiday gatherings and putting on her famous Sunday Dinners. She was an avid reader and gardener and Antoinette took great joy in spending family time at her family camp on Sacandaga Lake. Antoinette is predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Armand Aldi and her siblings, Tulio DeTullio, Rose Cassillo and Mary Caffarella Derenzo. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Patricia Aldi, Albert Aldi (Rosemary), Linda Frame (Larry) and Rit Aldi (Denise LaGrange), her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Aldi (Claudia), Danielle Blesi (Bill), Heather Watroba (Ryan), Shannon Frame, Josh LaGrange (Kristen) and Lisa Lane (Josh), her honorary grandson, Don Ampansiri and her great grandchildren, Liam Blesi, Ella Blesi, Brode Blesi, Boden LaGrange, Holt LaGrange, Scarlett Lane and Maddox Lane. She is also survived by her sisters, Flora Mannato and Helen Quattrociocchi (Gene) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will take place on Tuesday morning from 8:30 to10am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam, followed by a mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 10:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Road, Rotterdam. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady. Antoinette’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff, especially the Maple Unit, at the Schenectady Center for Nursing and Rehab for the loving care that they gave to Antoinette during her time there.
