Anthony "Tony" James Izzo, Jr.

d. June 26, 2023

Anthony (Tony) James Izzo Jr., 62, of Schenectady, NY passed peacefully on June 26, 2023, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, FL. Born and raised in Schenectady, NY, Tony attended Linton High School followed by Junior College of Albany for Registered Nursing. He trained at West Point as an Officer in the US Air Force. After his service in the USAF, Tony worked at Ellis Hospital, Duke University, and then as a travelling nurse in NYC and the Catskills. He was finishing his career at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida, where he always wanted to retire. Tony was a zealous New York Yankees and San Francisco 49ers fan. There was never a time when a sporting event wasn’t on the television or the radio when Tony was around. He, Delores, and the kids spent many fun times travelling around to visit family and friends throughout the United States and Canada. His kindness, generosity, and patience knew no bounds. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, papa, uncle, and cousin. He loved all his family and friends dearly, and we will all miss him. Tony is survived by his parents, Tony and Kitty, his beloved wife and high school sweetheart of 45 years, Delores (MacKinnon), his children, Nicole (Bryan) Jones and Kirstie (Michael Guido), his grandchildren, Madison, Benjamin, Jackson, and Grant, his sister Cathy (Richard) Gentile, and his brother Louis (Victor Pastrana). Tony was predeceased by his sister, Josephine, his parents-in-law, Leo and Greta MacKinnon, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, starting at 10:30 am followed by a memorial service at 12 noon at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony’s memory to a charity of choice. “When you are a nurse, you know that every day you will touch a life, or a life will touch yours.” Unknown
