Schenectady – Anthony P. Teta, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday October 12, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady on May 2, 1933 he was the son of Anthony and Louise (Iacovitti) Teta. Following his 1951 graduation from Mt. Pleasant High School, Tony enlisted in the United States Navy. As a quartermaster, he served on the USS Allen M. Sumner (DD692) which allowed him to travel the world and cross the equator two times. With an honorable discharge in 1956, Tony enrolled in Siena College receiving his bachelor’s degree in 1960. He went on to work for the Schenectady County Department of Social Services as a caseworker retiring in 1988 with over 27 years of service. Following his retirement, Tony took on many hobbies which included hunting, fishing, gardening and really enjoyed bowling that included three 300 games and golf that included three holes in one. He will be forever remembered for his love of family. His wife of 62 years, Carol (Pevny) Teta, passed away in 2019. He is survived by his six children Laura (John) Costello, Kim (Dan Barkley) Teta, Anthony (Teressa) Teta Jr., Jeannine (Jordon Veldhuis) Teta, Ileen (Edward) Varno and Holly Campana. His nine grandchildren Anthony III, Kali, Rachel, JJ, Eddie, Juliette, Gabriel, Michael and Christian. Three great grandchildren Anthony IV, Aubrey and Albert. His brothers Valentino and Paul Teta. Along with his parents and wife Tony was predeceased by his granddaughter Amber and his sister Elizabeth Bulger. Calling hours will be held Friday from 10-11:30 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A prayer service will begin at 11:30 am. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Tony’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
