Schenectady - Anthony D. Riggipassed peacefully on Wednesday January 20, 2021 at Ellis Hospital, he was 88. Tony was a lifelong Schenectady resident and attended Mont Pleasant High School. He served as a Medic with the US Army in Japan during the Korean war and was honorably discharged in 1954. Tony was employed with the city of Schenectady Parks Department in various capacities for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. Tony was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Mary Costanzo Riggi and his beloved wife of 58 years, Gloria Riggi. Tony is survived by his children; Anthony Riggi of Schenectady, Christine (John) Gentile of Duanesburg and Mary (Robert) Gradoni of Rotterdam, his sister; Marion Cammarere of Schenectady, seven grandchildren; Daniel Gentile, Michael (Tayler) Gentile, Gabriel (Tara) Gentile, Matthew Gentile, Victoria Gentile, Jamie Gradoni and Caleb Gradoni and his great grandson, Georgio Gentile as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday morning from 8:15 to 10:15 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Heldeberg Ave. followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St. Schenectady. Burial with Military Honors will follow the Mass at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
