Anthony F Pirrone Sr

Schenectady - Anthony F. Pirrone Sr,88, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015.Tony was born on Dec. 21, 1926 to the late Raffaele Angelo Pirrone and Felicia Maria Di Cicco. He attended Mont Pleasant High School. A long-time resident of Schenectady, and a US Navy veteran of WWII, Tony had an entrepreneurial spirit. A creative businessman, he was a lifelong craftsman who loved to work with his hands. He took up the watchmaking and jewelry trade during his time in the Navy.Later in life, he worked for many years at WGY Coin on State Street. He was devoted to his family and a devout member of St. Luke's Church. Tony believed in love and dedication to his family and friends, and service to his country. Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gloria Corbo Pirrone and numerous relatives, children and grandchildren. Survivors include siblings Julius Pirrone, Cosmo Pirrone and his wife Rose ; children JoAnn Pirrone; Aline Pirrone and husband Jeff Purdy; Anthony Pirrone, Jr. and life companion Marie Maitland; Matthew Pirrone and his wife Elaine; Edward Pirrone and his wife Lori Ann;grandchildren; Jennifer and her husband Brian Allocca; Tonya Pirrone and companion Matt Carpenter; Nicole and Jason Duke; Anthony Pirrone III, Bryan Pirrone and fiancé Allie Harkins; Danielle Pirrone; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tony was predeceased by several siblings. On Tony's behalf, the family would like to invite family members and friends to join us at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Calling hours are Tues., March 10 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services are planned for Wed., March 11 at 11 am, at the funeral Home. Interment will take place following at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Tony's name to the Alzheimer's Association, North Eastern New York.
