PRINCETOWN - Anthony G. Monte passed away peacefully on Thursday April 24, 2025 with his family by his side. Tony was born November 27, 1943 and was predeceased by his parents, 5 siblings and his first wife Eileen B. Monte (d.2002). Tony worked for the Golub Corp., retiring in 1997. He was a man of many talents and great intelligence. He used these gifts to do many amazing things like build his own house, fix tube TV’s, master computers (starting with the Commodore 64), build and fly RC planes, make beautiful wood carvings of animals and author 2 books. He had several hobbies including racing homing pigeons, metal detecting, painting, singing and fishing. He was a wonderful provider for his family and he spent many years coaching little league and making home videos of all the family get-togethers, even from the time camcorders first came out. Tony persevered through physical trials and was aided in this by his wife, Margaret Monte, who he met in 2004 and married in 2012. Maggie, a devoted wife, truly lived out her wedding vows of “for better or worse, in sickness and in health”, providing an excellent example for all who witnessed her love and care.
Besides Maggie, survivors include: his two sons, David Monte (Jenny) and Jeff Monte (Amy), an extended family in Ireland, his grandchildren: Sophia, Mariah, Alessandra, Joseph, Anthony, and Ashley, his sister-in-law Karen Sylvia, numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. A favorite scripture of Tony’s was John 11:25-26, “Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” The family would like to thank Hospice, especially his nurse Sue, and also Dr. Burton, the staff at Bassett Health Center in Delanson, and cardiologist Dr. Parikh for their wonderful care.
