Anthony M. Matarazzo was carried home by the angels to be with mom, Carol Dalpe, and family on Thursday, November 6, 2025, thirteen days shy of his 64th birthday.
Anthony was one of five children born in Schenectady on November 19, 1961, to Carol (Peek) and John Matarazzo.
Affectionately known as Tony or The Mayor.
He was a remarkable man. Shining in character and presence, his own personal style, filled with radiating unconditional love, a great sense of humor, a flirtatious ladies man, physically strong, and the capacity to serve and help out whenever he could. A genuine giver from the heart and soul.
Tony’s zest for life and high function gifted him with many hobbies and talents. He excelled in his love for bowling, dancing, gardening, lawn care, woodworking, maintenance duties, breakfast chef (he was a big foodie), arts and crafts (especially beaded keychains which he distributed freely with pride), and the skill to recognize and name every plane that flew overhead.
His bowling abilities led him to the Special Olympics a number of times and league inclusion, where he achieved many ribbons, medals, trophies, and accolades.
Tony’s employment career spanned a lifetime of inspiration and support through the Center for Disability Services Enclaves and Schenectady ARC Pine Ridge. He was proud in his efforts and success when paid for any job well done.
He will be remembered for his love of family, friends, children and animals and for his loving, compassionate and caring manner.
Anthony is survived by sisters and brothers, Debra Kruszona, John Matarazzo, Joe (Robin) Matarazzo, Sherry (Ed) Harasiemowicz, Richard (Amy) Dalpe; nieces and nephews, Brianna, Eddie, Mariah, Harry, Hanna; Aunts Joan Bergeron and Shirley Hoiser; and many cousins.
We would like to thank those that visited, called, sent prayers and/or mailed cards in support of his well-being.
We are also eternally grateful for those who cared for and were health and residential guardians in support of Tony in his divine given path of life. Many became brothers, sisters or friends. Emmanuel, Shane, Jason, Mike, Wanda, Kathleen, and many others.
A special thank you to Paulette and Elder David Camp, Jr. (aka) Dallas Cowboy Pastor, Agape Apostolic Church, Troy, for inclusion of Tony in the folds of your parish, in the worship and prayer of our Lord.
He will be forever connected in our spiritual makeup as one within the souls of those he has touched. He will be deeply missed.
Calling hours will be at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 4 to 6 pm. A short Prayer Service will be conducted by Elder David Camp, Jr. (aka) Dallas Cowboy Pastor at 5 pm.
Burial will be the following week at the Saratoga National Cemetery with his mom and stepfather, Richard Dalpe, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, 11 am. The day of his 64th birthday.
