Rotterdam, NY-Mr. Anthony V. "Tony" Lucca, age 94, a lifelong Schenectady resident, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, Nov. 6, 2015 at Kingsway Nursing Home and Rehab Center, Schenectady.At the time of his passing he was surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 20, 1921 in Schenectady, son of the late Ubaldo and Ersilia (Fabrizio) Lucca and educated in Schenectady schools.He was a proud veteran having served with the US Navy during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.He was the recipient of the European Theatre Medal with 2 stars, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, American Theatre and World War II Victory Medals and was active in the DDAY battle of Normandy in the summer of 1944.He involved himself with the Rotterdam community and was professionally employed as superintendant of buildings and grounds of the Mohonasen Central School District, retiring after numerous years of dedicated service at the age of 62.He served on the board of directors with the Pinehaven Country Club Golf Association and was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.Mr. Lucca loved to travel and play golf, but most of all, spend time with loved ones.He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Survivors include his beloved family; his children, Dan Lucca and wife Linda of Rotterdam and Anthony Lucca and wife Sally of Waterford, MI; a daughter-in-law, Linda Lucca of Niskayuna; a sister Elma Lucca; grandchildren, Todd, Nicole, Danielle, Matthew, Casey, Ami Jane and Tony; great grandchildren, Jackson, Molly, Evelyn, Mary, Luke, Hadley and Harper, Lucy, Stevenson, Madeline, Sparrow and Liam.He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Orlando Lucca and by his son, James Lucca. Family and friends are invited to visitation at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 5-8 p.m.The funeral will commence at 9:30 am on Wed., Nov. 11th (Veterans Day) from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 3040 Hamburg St., Rotterdam with Father James Belogi, pastor officiating. Procession will follow to Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna where he will be laid to rest.
