Schenectady – Anthony S. Friello, 97, passed away Monday September 30, 2024. Born in Rotterdam Junction he was the son of Joseph and Angelina (Lubrino) Friello. Anthony served our country in the Army Air Corps from 1945-1947. For 20 years he worked in the warehouse at the Army Depot and then was a clerk for the U.S. postal Service in Albany for 17 years before retiring in 1984. Anthony was a lifelong communicant of the former Our Lady of Assumption Church (Our Lady Queen of Peace) in Rotterdam where he was active in the Holy Name Society, the Nocturnal Adoration Society and a Eucharistic minister to the parish shut-ins. He also was an avid volunteer at the Teresian house in Albany and many other nursing homes in the area
His wife, Helena (Spina) Friello, passed away in 1997 along with his son Joseph (Nancy) Friello in 1991.
He is survived by 2 sons, Paul Friello of Rotterdam and Richard (Gloria) Friello of Glenville.
Two grandchildren, Susan Feidner and Anthony (Meghan) Friello.
Three great grandchildren, Madison Friello, Payton Friello and Joseph Friello.
Anthony is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife and son he was predeceased by his siblings Fred Friello, John Friello and Palmina Mangini.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.
Funeral services will begin 10:15 am Tuesday at the funeral home followed by an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at our Lady Queen of Peace 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam.
Burial will follow at St. Cyril’s Cemetery, Rotterdam.
