NISKAYUNA- Anthony M. Durante, Jr., 77, a lifelong resident of Schenectady, New York, passed away at Albany Medical Center on April 28, 2023 with his loving family by his side after a short illness.

Tony was born in Schenectady, New York on September 1, 1945 to the late Anthony M Durante, Sr. and Carmela ‘Millie’ Durante. He attended Schenectady City Schools and graduated from Linton High School in 1963. He was a member of the great Linton High School football team which was recently inducted into the Schenectady City School District Athletic Hall of Fame. He was an incredible athlete and excelled at multiple sports. His sense of humor was unmatched and his laugh was simply just the best.  He served with the United States Army Reserve.

After graduating, he went on to work at ALCO, SUNY Research Foundation, BlueCross of Northeastern NY, Davis Vision, and FINSERV Computer Corporation where he was Vice President of Computer Operations and made many friends. He later managed the Manhattan Exchange with his beloved brother Jimmy and great friend David DiSarro. He was an independent IT Contractor and retired from the NYS Comptroller’s Office. The systems he has designed and developed are still being used by many corporations and the State of New York.

He lived to be the best father, grandfather, and brother. He was a loyal and dedicated friend to all who met him. He loved watching his grandson, David, play sports. He loved horse racing and handicapping. He was tech savvy before it was even popular. He enjoyed time with Rita at camp and the many hours spent with friends who he adored.

He is survived by his beloved daughters, Christine Durante and Kimberly Durante; his son-in-law Jason Turnbull; his adored grandchildren, Autumn Vincent and David Woods, who was also his best friend; his loving companion of many years, Rita Wojnar; and his brother, James Durante and his sister-in-law, Sylvia Durante. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, cousins and many close, lifelong friends that are like brothers.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
