Schenectady – Anthony Cassillo Jr., 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of Anthony and Mary Cilfone Cassillo. A lifelong Schenectady resident, Tony worked at the ALCO for several years and then went on to work for the City of Schenectady for 30 years retiring in 1986 as a supervisor in the public works department. Tony started his day at the Rotterdam Square mall spending time with friends and having breakfast. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his enjoyment of fishing and hunting and spending time at the casino. He mainly enjoyed spending time with the family sharing stories and his many memories of Schenectady. His wife and love of his life, Rose Della Selva Cassillo, passed away in 2008. He is survived by his son, Anthony Michael Cassillo. 3 Sisters-in-law; Antoinette (the late Armand) Aldi, Flora (the late Albert) Mannato and Helen (Gene) Quattrociocchi. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Debra Marie; his 2 sisters, Theresa (the late Edwin) Kurtzner and Mary Mortensen and his sister-in-law, Mary (the late Anthony) Derenzo and his mother and father-in-law, Frank and Mary Della Selva. The family extends their special thanks to Capital Care Nursing Center, Dr. Goodman and his staff and to Community Hospice of Schenectady. A calling period will be held Monday from 9-10:45 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by an 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Church. Burial will follow at St. John’s cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s church restoration fund.
