Schenectady – Annie “Bernie” Maitino, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday January 9, 2025. Born in Galway, Ireland she was the daughter of Thomas and Barbara (Walsh) Coyne. Annie came to the United States at the age of 17. She worked at as a certified nurses assistant at Ellis Hospital before marrying her husband Robert in 1968 after which she was a private caretaker and homemaker. Annie was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians.
Her husband Robert passed away in 1987.
She is survived by her two sons Robert (Kimberly) Maitino and Michael (Ellen) Maitino.
Five grandchildren Kayla (Thomas), Rachel, Madeline, Julie and Melissa and her great granddaughter Olivia.
She is also survived by her brother Michael Coyne along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents and husband Annie was predeceased by her son Thomas Maitino, her brother Jerry Coyne, her sister Mary Keenan and other brothers and sisters.
The family extends special thanks to and asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be sent to Community Hospice or St. Peter’s Medical Oncology/Hematology.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg ave., Rotterdam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 am Friday at St. Lukes Church 1241 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304.
Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Schenectady.
The family politely requests that visitors refrain from colognes and fragrances due to family allergies.
