Rotterdam – Annette R. Smeaton, 81, passed away on Friday, August 13th, 2021 after complications from Covid-19. Born in Schenectady, Annette was the daughter of the late Sabatino Di John and Antoinette Di Carlo Di John. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and went on to work for NY State and then many years as a secretary at John Hancock Life Insurance. After retirement, Annette enjoyed babysitting for family members. She was a kind, generous and loving woman who could be found rooting for her kids, grandkids and great grandkids at any sporting event, recital or school function they were a part of. Annette had a wonderful sense of humor, often finding jokes in difficult situations. She was a big NY Jets fan and greatly enjoyed lunches out with her friends and travelling. In her younger years, Annette and her husband, Daniel, would make it a point to visit the ocean each summer and also spend time at their camp on Sacandaga Lake. More recently, Annette loved travelling with her daughter, Tracy, to visit her grandchildren and great grandchildren in Tennessee. Family was her everything. Annette leaves behind her children, Kelly (James) Dutcher, Jr., Tracy (John) Roth, Charles (Kim) Smeaton and Daniel J. II (JoAnn) Smeaton; grandchildren, Ashley, James III, Jennifer, Erica, Matthew, Vincent, Charles II, Philip, Joshua, Ethan, Daniel III, David and AnnaMarie as well as 13 great grandchildren, Audrey, Benjamin, McKenna, Haley, Skylar, Ronin, Penelope, James, Cecilia, Jase, Drew, Lucas, Jacob, Sydney, Thomas, Ryan and Tylerwhom she cherished. She also leaves behind her siblings, Anthony (Dea) Di John and Elaine (Peter) Palleschi andmany nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as Aunt Nettie. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Daniel J. Smeaton andcherished cousin, Arlene Parisi. Funeral services for Annette will be private. She will be laid to restat St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady.
