Guilderland – Anna Sangiovanni, 90, passed away on Thursday, January 19th, 2017. Born in Caiazzo, Caserta, Italy, Anna was the daughter of the late Nicola Audi and Rosina Sangiovanni. When Anna came to America from Italy she had a difficult time adjusting without speaking English. She took great comfort in being able to speak Italian at the factory she worked at. A wonderful cook, Anna loved to host holiday gatherings for her family at her home. She enjoyed crocheting, especially making blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also spent much time tending to her garden. Anna is a long-time parishioner of St. Madeleine-Sophie Church. Anna is predeceased by one son, Anthony Sangiovanni and his wife, Rita, and her sister, Carmelina Audi. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 71 years, Matteo Sangiovanni, her daughter, Maria Bianchi (Gerard) of Guilderland and her son, Giovanni Sangiovanni (Filomena) of Italy, her grandchildren, Anna Maria, Fabrizio, Rosario, Joseph, Deborah, Daniela and Joseph as well as great grandchildren, Maria Rosaria, Julia, Antonio, Jovani and Bianca. She is also survived by her siblings in Italy, Caterina Audi (late Leonardo) and her brothers, Antonio Audi (late Grazia) and Giovanni Audi (Angelina) and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning, January 21st from 8:45-10:45am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30am, following calling hours, at St. Madeleine-Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd., Schenectady, NY 12303. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Contributions in Anna’s name can be made to St. Madeleine-Sophie Church at the address above.
