Schenectady- Anna Ferri, 98, passed away into the hands of the Lord on January 26, 2015, at the Ellis Residential Center, after a long illness, with her adoring son, Mario by her side. Anna was born in Rotterdam Junction on April 28, 1916, to the late Peter and Mariantonia (Capobianco) Mancini. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Pasquale Ferri, and her son, John Ferri. She was a much loved wife, mother, sister, and aunt to her devoted family who referred to her as the loveable "Queen Anne. " She always welcomed family and friends into her home with a beautiful smile. Her strong faith to the Blessed Mother remained at the forefront of her daily prayers.A communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Anna was a devout Catholic. Anna was predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence and James Mancini, and her sister, Mary Cammarota and Carmela Lastarza. Survivors include: her son, Mario Ferri, former owner of Mario's Ice Cream; her sister, Sylvia Palombo; several grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Anna's family extends special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Ellis Residential Center, who provided excellent and compassionate care during her stay. A funeral service for Anna will be celebrated on Friday, January 30 at 12 noon at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Ave., Schenectady. Contributions may be made in Anna's memory to The City Mission, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
