Rotterdam - Anna Stephanie (Yanowski) Cimino, 91, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Schenectady, NY after a long and fruitful life. Anna was born on October 22, 1926 to the late Anna Stolarik and Stanislaw Thomas Yanowski in their home on Elizabeth St. in Rotterdam. After attending John Bigsby School, Anna lived independently and supported herself by working at the Bellevue Maternity Hospital, Aukenpaugh Restaurant, Holland Inn, and Edgewood Restaurant. She married her husband, John A. Cimino, in 1955. The couple was happily married for 57 years until his passing in 2012. Anna was a strong, humble, and intelligent woman. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and spent countless hours playing cards and board games with her family. She had a huge heart, which manifested in her love of growing flowers and caring for animals, especially Jasper the rabbit and her dogs. Anna was also a strong swimmer who loved the ocean and lakes. Anna is survived by her five children: Susan Acosta (Galo); Steve Cimino; Cathy Winters (Edward); John A. Cimino, Jr.; and Gina Woods (Adam). She will also be dearly missed by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Other remaining family includes her cousin Marion Jaffarian (Latham, NY); sisters-in-law Winnie, Ann, Nonni, and Vivi; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Anna is predeceased by her three siblings: Mary Sharpley, Nelly Zeh, and Stanley Yanowski. She is also predeceased by her closest friends Isobel, Wanda, Alice, and sister-in-law Anne. The family would especially like to thank Maria Jackan for the visits and kindness she devoted to Mrs. Cimino. Calling hours will be held from 9 to 10:30 am on Thursday, April 26 at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Services will begin at 11:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Road, Rotterdam. Burial will take place at St. Cyril Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities of Schenectady, 1462 Erie Boulevard, Schenectady, NY 12306, or the Women’s Shelter at YWCA of Schenectady, 44 Washington Ave, Schenectady, NY 12305.
