Anne Forth Laporte

November 18, 1965 — January 19, 2024

CALIFORNIA - Anne Forth LaPorte passed away on Friday January 19, 2024. Anne was brave, passionate, and playful. She was a beloved mother, daughter, and friend to many. Anne prioritized family above all else. One of six children born to Anne Marie and Maurice Forth, Anne often joked she was the 'fourth Forth' that made up the pack of tight-knit siblings who grew up on Lakeview Avenue (Schenectady).

After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School, Anne pursued her passion for healthcare and attended St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. She honed her intensive care skills at hospitals in New York and eventually joined her brother, Joe, in Hawaii. Anne met her former husband in Hawaii and together they had a daughter, Brooke. Anne’s small family thrived in Honolulu and her career as a registered nurse evolved over her 32 years at Kaiser Permanente. Her last role as a case manager and diabetes educator brought her the most joy, as she partnered with patients to manage their chronic illnesses.

Anne’s passion for work and her volunteerism with the American Diabetes Association brought her to San Diego where she worked as Diabetes Educator at Sharp Hospital. When Anne was diagnosed with lung cancer, she quickly pivoted her nursing and advocacy skills to support various lung cancer non-profits and research institutions. She served the cancer community as an advocate and fundraiser while undergoing treatment herself these past three years.

Anne met her soulmate, Jon (also from Hawaii) in San Diego. He was her champion and a pillar of support for our family during the most challenging times. While living with Brooke and Jon in in San Diego, Anne attended Brooke’s civil wedding ceremony in 2022 and wedding party in Mexico the following year. She reveled in the constant stream of family and friends who visited her when she could no longer travel. It was these visits that gave her the strength to try new therapies and advocate for a cure.

Anne is survived by her daughter Brooke DeWeese (Chris), her partner Jon Kuwahara, mother, Anne Marie Forth, and siblings Susan Saburro (Jim), Karen LaFreniere (Mike), Joseph Forth, Catherine Coffey (John), and Peter Forth (Jen).
