Ann Kost

June 4, 1935 — December 30, 2021

Schenectady - Ann (Catrambone) Kost, also known as DeeDee, died Thursday, December 30, 2021, at St. Peter’s Hospital at the age of 86. She was a lifelong resident of Schenectady, NY. Ann was born in Worcester, MA, the daughter of the late John and Mary Lupica Catrambone. She graduated in 1953 from Mont Pleasant High School and worked for several years in the mail room at General Electric. Following that, she worked at Flight Test at the Schenectady County Airport, then was a part time salesclerk at McLane’s Pharmacy, and retired from Price Chopper on Altamont Ave in 2020. She also volunteered for 13 years at St. Clare’s Hospital in the Outpatient Department. Ann valued her family over all else. Her goal in life was to make sure her family, and friends, felt loved and cared for. She enjoyed going to casinos, spending time with family and friends, and watching the NY Yankees with a glass of cabernet sauvignon. One of her greatest pastimes was going to her granddaughter’s high school and college sporting events. The world is a better place because of her. In addition to her parents, Ann was also predeceased by her beloved husband, John Kost, whom she married on September 14, 1958, her son John Kost Jr., who died in October, her brother, Ralph Catrambone, nephew Michael Catrambone, best friend Patty Siatkowski, and longtime companion, Stanley Balko. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Jerry) Adach of Rotterdam, her granddaughters, Kristen (Joe) Caschera and Nicole Adach, daughter in law, Beth Kost, and great grandson Rocco Caschera. Also left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Donna (Larry) Rector, Tom (Erin) Catrambone, Ralph (Marcia) Catrambone, Trish (Craig) Mosch, and several lifelong friends including Arlene Bachus, Nicki Battaglia, Bill Siatkowski, and Patty Bell. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 9 – 11 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 11 am. Burial will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and because of Ann’s love for animals and children, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Schenectady APF, 53 Maple Ave, Schenectady, 12302, or to St. Jude Children’sResearch Hospital at www.stjude.org.
