Ann Mary Esposito

October 29, 1942 — May 4, 2023

Rotterdam – Ann Mary Esposito, affectionately known as Tootsie to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4 th , 2023 surrounded by her family. She was 80 years old.

Ann was born in Schenectady to her parents, the late Joseph Mastroianni and Mary Carmen (Petrillo) Mastroianni. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and went to work for the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles before leaving to raise her family. Upon re-entering the workforce, Ann began a career with Capital Region BOCES as an educational assistant, retiring in 2000. In retirement, Ann provided independent childcare for family and friends until 2009 when her grandson, Nicholas was born at which time she delighted in becoming his daytime caregiver. Ann’s greatest pride came from being a mother and grandmother.

In Ann’s younger years she enjoyed bowling, ceramics with her sisters and family vacations to the jersey shore. After retirement, lunches with her lifelong friends were a source of enjoyment.

She was an amazing cook and baker but above all things, Ann loved spending quality time with her family.

Ann had great faith and was a longtime communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, formerly Our Lady of Assumption.

She leaves behind her children, Anthony J. Esposito and JoAnn Jakowiw (Nicholas); her beloved grandson, Nicholas Joseph Jakowiw; her siblings, Jeanette Polito, Josephine Coppola and Donna Essery and many nieces and nephews.

Ann was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Joseph J. Esposito, whom she married on September 15, 1962 as well as her siblings, Antoinette Cafarella, Carmela Sperduto, Louis Mastroianni, Dolores Euler and Marlene Mauro.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 10 th from 8:30-10:30am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Road. Ann will be laid to rest at Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery.

Ann’s family would like to thank Stacy Lynn Hill for her care and companionship over the last several months.
