Ann Marie Burke, 89, formerly of Guilderland, a beloved resident of the Teresian House in Albany, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025 with her family at her side.
Born on June 12, 1936, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Ann was the only child of Stanley and Mary Wojnar. She graduated from Bradford Durfee High School and went on to build a full and meaningful life rooted in family, community, and kindness.
Ann married the love of her life, Edward P. Burke, on July 14, 1956, and together they shared 68 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to Coleen Stevens (Scott), Ellen Burke, and Thomas Burke (Kathalina), and proud “Nana” to Greg Stevens (Lindsey), Todd Stevens (Taylor), Dan Stevens (Erin), Patrick Burke, and Campbell Cahill. Her joy only deepened with the arrival of her great-grandchildren — Calvin, Claire, Elizabeth, and Arabelle Stevens — who brought her endless delight.
For many years, Ann worked as the bookkeeper at the Kenwood Childcare Center at the Doane Stuart School in Albany, where she was known for her warmth, reliability, and gentle humor. Her kindness and steady presence touched the lives of many families and colleagues.
Ann was happiest surrounded by those she loved. She cherished her time with her children and grandchildren, always generous with her time, attention, and love. Summers were spent in Little Compton, Rhode Island, where the family gathered each June to celebrate birthdays and make lasting memories, and in Maine tent camping on the windy cliffs of Hermit Island. Winters brought her to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she and Ed enjoyed golfing, swimming, and peaceful days by the sea.
Together, Ann and Ed shared a spirit of adventure, traveling throughout Europe and the Caribbean, often by cruise — savoring each new place and experience together. For many years, Ann was a member of the Pine Haven Swim Club at Pinehaven Country Club, and volunteered at the Albany International Airport, assisting travelers along their journeys.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 26, 4:00-6:00pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland, NY 12084. A funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Church in Guilderland, New York, on Monday, October 27 at 11:00 am. with burial to follow at Saratoga National Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate and devoted staff at the Teresian House for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Teresian House Foundation, 200 Washington Avenue Ext. Albany, NY 12203, in gratitude for the community that supported Ann in her final years.
