Angelo A. Sardella, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. Angelo was born in Pietracupa, Campobasso, Molise, Italy, the son of the late Michael and Antonia Sardella. Angelo came to this country in 1938 settling in Schenectady were he proudly lived his life. He considered it an honor and a privilege to be a United States citizen. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to the end of World War II, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After the war he supported his family as a plumber and was later employed for almost 30 years with General Electric, retiring as a machinist. Angelo was a past member of the Italian American Community Center in Albany and Order Sons of Italy Lodge #321. Angelo was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years Ann F. Sardella (2009), his late sister Rosaria Fusaro and brother John Sardella. He is survived by his two sons Michael C. (Betty) Sardella of Niskayuna, Anthony J. (Jessica) Sardella of Voorheesville. He was the loving grandfather of Todd, Andrew (Wendy), Michael Angelo (Kelli), Ashley, and Anthony Angelo. The loving great grandfather of Anne Marie, David, Gavin, Anthony Vincent and Caleb. Angelo is also survived by several nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning, 8 am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 2216 Rosa Rd., Schenectady. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Special thanks to the staff at Kingsway Community and Community Hospice.
