Schenectady

Schenectady, NY - Angela Viscusi, 88, entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday July 24, 2025.
Angela was born in Amorosi, Benevento, Italy on May 27, 1937. She was the daughter of Angelo and Belinda Gaudio. At the age of 18, together with her parents, brother and sister she made the 15 day journey to America on the MS Saturnia. They arrived at Ellis Island in 1955 and settled in Albany. She used her sewing skills and immediately started working at Loveland Toy Factory and later at Cheltingham Mfg. Co. Angela also attended night school and was proud to become a naturalized citizen to pursue the American dream. In 1959, she married Antonio Viscusi and they settled in Schenectady. They celebrated 33 years of marriage until his death in 1992.
In 1967, Angela and her husband founded Angela’s Bakery, known for its homemade Italian Bread and for the seven foot loaf of bread that became a tradition at local weddings. In 1974, Angela and Antonio started a second business, Angela’s Food Concessions, which is still operating today. She loved making and serving food to everyone.
Angela also loved to cook, bake, garden, sew and knit. In her 88 years, she maintained her devotion to her family (La Famiglia). Angela was a faithful parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Peace and a volunteer at the annual Festa. She also attended a weekly prayer group and was a member of the Sons of Italy.
Angela is survived by her son, Zelindo Viscusi (Peggy Reid); her daughters: MaryJo (Darrin) Vincent, Rosanna (Fred) DeMarco, and Linda Viscusi. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Tonio (Corina) Viscusi, Vinny DeMarco, Ryan Vincent, Jolene Vincent, Anthony (Valeria) DeMarco, Demetri Strates, Christina Strates, and Spyridon Strates and her great grandson, Enzo Viscusi.
Besides her parents and husband, Angela was predeceased by her sister, Filomena (Antonio) Scala, and her brother, Peter (Gina) Gaudio.
Angela was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters in law: Carlo & Filomena Viscusi, and Arcangela & Frank Campagnano.
Angela is survived by her husband’s family, who she considered her own: Maria (the late Frank) Viscusi, Maria (the late Bernie) Viscusi, Renato (Guistina) Viscusi, and Beatrice (Tony) Sgueglia. She leaves behind many Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Angela will also be missed by her grand puppies: Duck, Colby, and Sage, who she snuck her homemade cooking to every chance she could.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at Capstone Rehab and Nursing Facility who gave her exceptional care the past three years.
