Andrew (Sandy) Santabarbara

Rotterdam - Andrew (Sandy) Santabarbara, 84, passed away on August 23, 2018, surrounded by his sons, after battling a short illness. Sandy enjoyed a very active 23 years of retirement from the boilermakers union. He had a passion for go cart and dirt track modified racing for the majority of his life. Sandy was happiest in the garage or at the shop, tuning, tinkering, fixing and fabricating and took pride in helping his family and friends in any capacity. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends. Sandy is survived by his two sons, Kevin (Ruth), Paul (Beth), brother, Angelo (Betty), 4 grandchildren Todd (Lauren), Ashleigh (Ronnie), Samantha (Brian), Stephanie (Fernando), 7 great grandchildren, brother in law Pete and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Carole Alois, his love of 28 years and his sister, Adeline. Funeral services will be private. The family would like to thank the nurses of the C1 Unit of Ellis Hospital for the wonderful job and compassionate care that was provided during his many visits to the unit as well as Community Hospice of Schenectady for their support and comfort care.
