Amelia M. Mangano, 90, of Niskayuna, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Ellis Hospital. Amelia was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Barbero and Theresa Bennice Sgarlata. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1943 and received a bachelor's degree from Trinity College in Burlington, VT. in 1947. Amelia was a homemaker, and was devoted to her family.She moved to King of Prussia, PA with her husband in 1956 where she raised two sons. While there, she formed a bowling league and a Pinochle club to socialize with her friends and neighbors. She returned to Schenectady in 2006. Amelia enjoyed shopping and going out to dinner with family and friends. She was a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. In addition to her parents, Amelia was also predeceased by her husband, Salvatore G. Mangano, who died in 2005, her son Mark S. Mangano, who died in 2002, her brother, Carmen Sqarlata and sisters, Providence Ciotoli, Angela Palumbo and Palma DeLuca. She is survived by her son, Michael J. Mangano (Sheila) of Clifton, VA., one brother, Dominick Sgarlata of Las Vegas, NV., two grandchildren, Sean Mangano and Danielle Mangano, also of Clifton, VA. as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 8:45-10:15 at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd.
