Althea Mae Cookfair

Althea Mae Cookfair (Wiltsie)
January 5th, 1948 – June 28th, 2026

Born in Schoharie County, NY to Floyd Wiltsie, of Summit, NY, and adopted parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Durfee, Althea grew up on Cotton Hill Road, Middleburgh, NY, on the Durfee Family farm. Althea met Arthur Hasty Cookfair, Jr., in the late 1970s, and they got married on July 8th, 1978, in Scotia, NY.

Althea worked as a Patient Care Aide at Ellis Hospital, a Recess Monitor at Sacandaga Elementary School, and a CNA at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehab Center.

Althea is predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Arthur Hasty Cookfair, Jr., her sister, Shirley Wiltsie, her father, Floyd Wiltsie, and her mother.

Althea is survived by her daughter, Melissa J. Cookfair, of Rotterdam, NY; also, Leslee Barkley, of Clifton Park, NY and Steve Cookfair, of Round Lake, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rachel and Josh Cookfair, and Alyssa and Brittany Barkley; as well as her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13th, 2026, from 11 AM-12 PM, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, NY.

A Memorial Service will begin at 12 PM at the funeral home.

A Burial Service will follow at 2:30 PM, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

After the cemetery service, anyone interested may meet at Melissa’s place for a reception.
