Rotterdam- Aloysius M. Gesek, 91 entered into the Arms of Our Lord on Wednesday May 22, 2013. He passed away peacefully at his home, with his loving family by his side. Born in Mannville NJ on November 16, 1921 he was the son of the late Marcell and AnastasiaGesek, longtime residents of Delanson and Schenectady. He served in the US Navy during WWII from 1942 to 1946, in the Pacific Theater as a machinist on the U.S.S. Mendocino. After military service he worked at General Electric Company, before joining Carpenters Union Local 370. Aloysius worked for a number of contractors throughout the Capital Region for over 40 years. After his retirement he worked as a custodian for the Schalmont School District. He was an active member of the VFW Post # 1895. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Giovanna (Jennie) Gesek , his two children Regina (Paul) Jendzeizyk of Rotterdam and Frank (Jacqueline) Gesek of Lebanon NH, his grandchildren Tiffany (Patrick) Clute ,Jason Jendzeizyk, Alan, Jennie and Maria Gesek, his sisters Mary Askew and Stephanie Riley, and brothers Clemens Gesek and Ralph Gesek. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Stanley Gesek, Julius Gesek and his sister Emily Place. All who knew whom will sincerely miss him. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco- Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam on Monday May 27, 2013 from 6 pm to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at Our Lady Queen Of Peace Princetown Road Rotterdam.Entombment with military honors will follow at St Cyril's' Mausoleum Duanesburg Road Rotterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to Al's memory to Schenectady Community Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul Dworkin, Dr. Robert Wang and Dr. Anthony Mastroianni for the wonderful care Al was given by them. Also a special thank you to Father Vincent and Father Hohenstein for all their prayers and support during Al's long illness.
