Schenectady

Allan Barakat passed away at home on April 10th, 2026, at the age of 78, in Schenectady, New York.

Allan was born on November 8th, 1947, to Wahid & Jainab Barakat in Manacuro Canal, Pomeroon, Essequibo Coast, Guyana. He was the husband of Sachie (Inez) Barakat, father of Sherana and Ann, father-in-law of Zulphe and Junior; and grandfather of Zarif, Shazanna, Matthew and Christopher.

He was the brother of Adam, Aleen, Jimmy, Zambie, Sam, Bert, Ellen, Leanner, Shelima and the late Ismael, Saka and Assan. Brother-in-law of Violet, Christina, Michael, Jairam and the late Flora, Ronald and B.

His was a life well lived. He always had the heart and soul of a true adventurer. This was reflected in his many travels, ranging from Pomeroon, Essequibo Coast, Venezuela, the United States and his favorite - the interior of Guyana. He had a true love of photography, gardening and had a real green thumb.

He will forever be missed by the Barakat and Seewah families including his many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

We pray that his soul rests in eternal peace.
