Alicia H Galea

February 22, 1965 — May 18, 2020

Rotterdam - Alicia Galea, 55, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 18, 2020. Born in Albany, NY, Alicia was the beloved child of Joseph and Sylvia Galea of Princetown, NY. Alicia was a graduate of Schalmont High School and attended Spencer Business Institute. After graduating, Alicia worked for several years in the field of electronics, which was an ongoing passion of hers throughout her life. More recently, Alicia both volunteered and worked as an activities assistant at several senior care facilities in the Capital District. Alicia loved sharing a smile or a comforting word with someone in need. A talented artist and avid inventor, Alicia was always busy with a new project. She was a very creative person with a courageous, kind and loving spirit. Alicia loved her family and friends deeply and she had a natural bond with the children in her life. While private in nature, she often enjoyed Sunday dinners and a good game of Bocce or Phase 10 at bustling family gatherings. She also loved animals, especially her pets over the years; including cats Leona, Scruffy and Snowball as well as the longtime family mutt, Buffy. Alicia was a very spiritual person who recognized God as Unity and Love. She enjoyed contemplating the wonders of the universe and spending time in nature on long walks or scenic bike rides. Alicia will be greatly missed by those who loved her. She leaves behind brothers, Tony Galea (Lori), Mike Galea (Angela), Steve Galea and sister Lisa Galea Larrabee (Jeff). Alicia also leaves behind many adored nieces and nephews: Derrick Baldwin (Seanna), Anthony Galea, Kara Kilmartin (Chad), Jake Teller, Alyssa Galea, Joseph Galea, Steven Galea, Emily Galea, Kirstyn Galea, Rosa Larrabee, Kyle Galea and Noah Galea. Alicia cherished the new generation of her great nieces and nephews, Trenton, Cooper, Tyson, Josephine and Emma. She will also be missed by a large extended family and many friends. Contributions may be made in Alicia’s memory to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, June 15th at 10:30am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. A visitation will take place prior to the service, from 10-10:30am. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
